Be it tj Rehmi’s skilled classical guitar work in a heady electronic palette, tabla player Karsh Kale and ghazal vocalist Vishal Vaid weaving ancient Persian/Indian melodies with bass-heavy cadence, Israeli Yossi Fine’s Sound System canvassing an dubbed African landscape or Brooklyn’s hip-hopping Open Thought weaving indigenous Australian instruments into solid beats, the old and new are beautifully indistinguishable.
